New Music Friday: November 7, 2025

As we say goodbye to Spooky Season, we greet the season of gratitude. I’m grateful for the excellent new music out this week.

Literary folk troubadour The Mountain Goats are back with a new collection of intellectual song craft. Soul queen Mavis Staples always writes songs that resonate with the times, and continues to do so on her new album. Portugal. The Man always sound ahead of their time, while Midlake sound like they’re channeling a past time – hear for yourself on their new albums. It’s been a long time since Revis‘ last album, but the hard rockers are finally back with a new one, as are soul-ska band Westbound Train. Liam Kazar‘s new album should sway you no matter what era of music you like (read our review of it here). Very of the now are new Canadian punks The Mendozaz, and friends of the site Hotel Mira, who have new EPs for us, as do 2000’s rock mainstays Kings of Leon.

One of my favorite acts, Jimmy Eat World, announced a new EP this week and shared a new song from it. Joining them in releasing a new track are recent tour mates New Found Glory. Holly Humberstone is back with a dark pop song, while Low Cut Connie ‘settles down’ on his latest. Dessa makes a ‘tough call’ on her new song, while Goldfinger are ‘chasing Amy’ with ska horns. Andy Bell is joined by Tim from Keane on his new song, while hip-hop legends De La Soul return with the first song from their upcoming album.

Gorillaz have brought on Idles for their new banger, and Silversun Pickups have picked-up where they left off with their new jam. There’s one MORE new track from the queen Hayley Williams, and Jack Johnson has teamed up with Hermanos Gutierrez for a new song. We’re also welcoming back Ben Quad, Alemeda, Ana Luna, Whitney, Soen, Elle Belle, LAPêCHE, Frank Turner, Tres Kings, In Color, Odhran Murphy, Jont, Kirsten Izer, Pretty Jane, Matt Costa, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Glassio, Calling All Captains, Ian McCuen, Audiogust, Joy Buzzer and Finger Eleven.

And this week, we’re excited to introduce you to Leon Knight, Bliss Abyss, The Lives Of Famous Men, The Slaps, Austin Meade, Kaneb Andrews, Scarlet Fever, Hector Gannet, Lovely Colours, MT Jones, Sidecar, HAVVK, Elunia, Adjustments, Monster Rally and Mylo Bybee.
