Formed this year in beautiful Galicia, Spain, Guamil blends different musical styles to tell their stories. Comprised of Juan (drums), Rafa (vocals), Charly (guitar), Fer (guitar and backing vocals), and Edu (bass and backing vocals), their compositions show the influence of a range of styles, and a keen knack for melody.
Their effervescent first single “Sintonizo tu cancion” is a sunny indie folk number, full of laid-back harmonies and breezy rhythms. While the lyrics are all in Spanish, you certainly don’t need to understand them to pick up the vibes from the track.
More recently the band released “3 Palabras” carries more of an edge, with a heavy bass line and atmospheric percussion setting the tone. There’s an 80’s sheen to the guitars that fits perfectly with the melancholic, melodic pop rock chorus. This one could have fit in on the radio alongside Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls back in the day perfectly.
