New Music Friday: January 30, 2026

Well, that was quite the first month of 2026? As much as anyone can, I try to keep this website apolitical, as music should be enjoyed by everyone and be used to help bring people together. But, there’s nothing political about condemning the murder of innocent citizens trying to engage in their civil rights and hold power accountable. I’m horrified by what’s happening in Minnesota (which also happened to us here in LA not too long ago), and I thank every musician speaking up and out against ICE and anyone still supporting those jackboot thugs.

I’m fairly certain Epitaph band Joyce Manor, celebrating their latest album out today, would be onboard with those sentiments, as would UK act Kula Shaker, whose great new album Wormslayer I reviewed. And no need to even consider that the Buzzcocks wouldn’t be out marching in the streets with the protestors. While I don’t know much about Joshua Josué, who’s latest album completes unfinished tracks by Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, I’m sure anyone who has that spirit of rock n’ roll in their hearts doesn’t stand for anything resembling fascism. Listen to all of their new albums in our list today.

Vermont superstar Noah Kahan (as I predicted in our Most Anticipated Albums list) is back with new music, sharing his latest single today. The Maine have given us the first taste of their new album this week with a brand new single, and A Wilhelm Scream are giving us the second taste of theirs. There’s new delectable hard rock from Papa Roach, and powerful protest songs from The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, NOFX and Billy Bragg. The Black Crowes announced a new tour with a new track, and Codefendants announced their next album with a D.O.C. collab single.

Also back on the list this week are Crazy & The Brains, GUV, Hot Lobby, Justin Webb & The Noise, Chest, Endearments, Tony DV, Carter Vail, Brenn!, The Gleeman, Fai Laci, Maris, Meet Me @ The Alter, Rum Jungle, Northcote and Cast.

And making their NMF debut with us today are Cape Crush, Jon Von Boehm, Blue Bayou, Holly Head, Hedge, Dream Fatigue, The Sky Chiefs, Charlie Franklin, black watch, Kerrin Connolly, Karnivool, The Pale White, Reluctant Bob & the Lonely Lovers, John R. Miller, Abacot, Ken Hylind, Hauntees, Melanie Martinez, Queen Lily, Rorey, Rhuari Campbell and Sons of Town Hall.

Enjoy all this new music in our New Music Friday Playlist, and may every member of ICE be brought to justice for their crimes.
