It’s not Valentine’s Day yet, but you’re welcome to fall in love with this week’s latest new albums and songs.
We’ve got some eclectic sounds for you today. There’s the Americanized mariachi of Mariachi el Bronx on their fourth album, the Romani punk stylings of Gogol Bordello, and the indie power pop of PONY (read my review of the album here).
Alt rockers Cold War Kids are back with their first two new songs of the year, and Bleachers have dropped the first taste of their new album. Folk troubadour Hiss Golden Messenger is returning with a new album this year, and released its first single this week, and alt pop troupe MUNA shared the title track from their upcoming new album. They Might Be Giants put the blame on “Wu-Tang” on their latest track, while The New Pornographers are in ‘pure sticker shock’.
NY punk legends I Am the Avalanche have made a triumphant return this week, and we have their first new song in years, and A Wilhelm Scream continue to shred on the third song from their next album. Country rock troupe The Red Clay Strays are back with a new single, and Tinariwen have teamed with Jose Gonzalez for a cross-cultural jam. Another collaboration has come in from Damon Albarn with Fontaines D.C.‘s singer for the War Child benefit.
