Producer and song-writer Earl St. Clair didn’t set out to be a solo performer, but if his debut EP My Name is Earl is any indication, his experience working on tracks for others has made him that much more formidable as a performer. Going from deep blues (“Pain”) to soulful jams (“Feelin’ Alive”), St. Clair’s excellent production work on his album shines through.

Single “Ain’t Got it Like That” is a perfect sample of St. Clair’s style. Upbeat, horn-laden production with vocals hearkening back to James Brown, St. Clair manages to make a tune about not getting his dues into a funky and fresh feel-good anthem. It’s one to get you through the rainy days.
