Check This: Wild Cub – Somewhere

Artist: Wild Cub

Song: Somewhere

Genre: Rock, Synth-Pop

Every week, I take a look at the billboard Alternative and AAA charts to see where some of my favorite songs are tracking, and to see if any new acts are bubbling up on the charts. It was a few years back when I saw Wild Cub climbing the lower ends of the chart with their single “Thunder Clatter“, which I checked out and greatly enjoyed. The group, formed in Nashville, self-released their debut album Youth in 2013, and later re-released a deluxe edition with additional songs in 2014.

This year, they have been releasing a steady stream of new singles in anticipation of a new album. My favorite of the new songs released is “Somewhere”, a synth and hand-clap adorned pop nugget with heavy 80’s inspiration. The narrator woos his lover with grandiose claims of love, promising to “walk back time for you”, during the joyous, horn-filled chorus. It’s a happy song for these unhappy times.
