In honor of the release of their newest album, The Lost Mile, today felt like a good Thursday to throwback to the first single from Vertical Horizon‘s far less well known second album, Go.
After the huge success of debut album Everything You Want, Vertical Horizon became victims of label changes and delays, which left their second album, released in 2003, without any marketing promotion, leaving it pretty dead on arrival. It’s a shame, because the album had some great tracks, including the ironically titled “I’m Still Here”. Built around a mid-tempo acoustic riff, the song builds into one of those big anthemic 90’s choruses you can’t help but love.
With the way music tastes change, there’s no guarantee Go would have made as big of a splash as Everything You Want, even without the label drama, but it deserved a fair shot.
