It’s Friday the 13th, but a lucky day for music fans. I’ll be listening to the new albums from Australian songstress Amy Shark and afropop influenced Dirty Projectors this weekend. I’ve enjoyed pre-release singles by both artists, so look forward to hearing the complete album collections.
There were two huge drops in the singles world this week, with Childish Gambino and Twenty One Pilots both releasing two new songs. Expect both these artists to chart next week.
We were also given the first taste from the upcoming posthumous Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers release, and some new songs from Big Red Machine, a collaboration between the lead men from The National and Bon Iver. I’ve posted one of those tracks below, but you can find the rest on Spotify.
Following the death of their lead singer Steve Soto, a new song has been released by legendary punk band The Adolescents. There’s also new songs by my fav Lucero, pop punk lifers Good Charlotte, the always-reliable Norah Jones, alt. metal group Radkey and alt. country troubadour Ruston Kelly.
I hope you make it through this unlucky day unscathed and with some good tunes in your head.
