New Music Friday – October 6, 2018

Joe Strummer_Joe Strummer 001

I made one major omission in last week’s New Music list, and that was the release of the entire new collection of unreleased and rare music from Joe Strummer. It’s a necessary listen for any Clash fans.

In actual new releases today, I’m most excited for the newest album from Cat Power.  Twenty One Pilots have dropped their latest, which will test whether the group has staying power. Two other notable releases are the new albums from rapper Atmosphere and Journey‘s Steve Perry.

In EPs, folk/bluegrass stalwart Jackie Greene and literary punks Titus Andronicus have released some new ones, and in songs, I’ll be spinning new singles from Kurt Vile, Van Morrison, Dan Mangan, Sharon Von Etten, Papa Roach and Four Fists, among others.

Enjoy your first weekend of October with these new tunes.
