2020 has been one of the most difficult, straining and stressful years in recent memory, so there’s something to be said of having music that can clear your mind and help one to simply chill and relax. New York trio numün are creating just that type of music. Containing members of ambient country group SUSS and Gamelan Dharma Swara, the group creates audio soundscapes inspired by space travel.
First single “First Steps” opens gently with a mix of digital noises, piano and bongos to create a somber and spacey atmosphere. A few sharp pining strings pierce like needles across the skin, until melancholy acoustic guitars and a haunting banjo enters during the song’s second half to add a beautifully sad coda to the track.
