New Music Friday – June 25, 2021

The first half of 2021 is going out strong with this Friday’s indie-tastic slew of new releases. Some of the most acclaimed acts out there are dropping new albums, and we’ve got them all for you. First, alternative rockers Modest Mouse have their first new album in six years, and will be doing a lot of touring this year. Next, some of the best folk/singer-songwriter acts have new ones out; Hiss Golden Messenger (see our review of their latest here), The Mountain Goats, and Lucy Dacus. Future folk group Gone Gone Beyond have their second album out today (and read our interview with them about it here), and rapper Skizzy Mars has his latest album out!

There’s also a few very noteworthy new EPs out today! 90’s hitmakers Eve 6, led by anointed Twitter God Max Collins, have their revitalizing new set out (read our review of it next week!), and up-and-coming songwriters Jensen McRae and Beabadoobee both have new sets for you to hear today.

Of the big new singles dropping today, first we’ve got new ones from massive UK act Bastille and Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn. 90’s groups Low and Our Lady Peace are back with their first new ones in a long while, and Journey have a new single to sing along to like it was the 80s again.

Surf rockers The Ziggens have dropped their first new single in 19 years, and the legendary David Crosby has his second single from his next album out. Miley Cyrus teamed up with Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma and Chad Smith for a Metallica cover, and rocker Grandson has teamed up with pop songstress Jesse Reyes for a new track from The Suicide Squad soundtrack. We’ve also got the latest singles from Wilder. and Felicity!

Some of the acts getting first-time features today are Briston Maroney, Ariel Bellvalaire, Alexander Saint, The Jacklights and Colleen Green.
