There’s some strong femme power in today’s New Music Friday! First, we have the latest album from New Zealand’s Lorde (featuring one of the cheekiest album covers in quite some time). Next, we have the final album from retiring rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson. Finally, we have the new album from indie rockers Shannon and the Clams. All should bring some different vibes to your weekend.
After seeing New York rocker Jesse Malin in concert last night at the Hotel Cafe, it feels appropriate to have a new song from him this week. Famed guitarist Carlos Santana is back with a new collaboration with Rob Thomas (the first since their epic hit “Smooth”). Speaking of legends, The Rolling Stones have announced a reissue of their album Tattoo You, including bonus tracks, and they are dropping one of those tracks today. And there’s a new one from the great Earth, Wind & Fire.
Nathniel Rateliff, after a solo stint, is back with his band the Night Sweats for a new album, and they dropped a new song today. After having a couple hits last year, Bakar is back with a new one for the alt charts. British rockers The Wombats, folk band Dawes, pop rockers L.A. Exes, young punks The Muslims, and rock duo Arrows to Fire also dropped new songs this week. Some of our other favorites like Third Eye Blind, Dave Hause, Flobots, Yungblud, Sam Fender and Anderson East are also providing new tunes.
Some of the new artists we’ll be spinning are Olivia Vedder (Eddie’s daughter, and he joins her on the track), Sugarcane, Mrley, Ellevator, Thrill You Kill You, Foxera, Eleanor Buckland, Tusing, Trousdale and Dirty Shrines.
Hear all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
