New Music Friday – November 12, 2021

Winter is coming, and the latest album from musical savant Damon Albarn feels like it will be a good soundtrack to the overcast days ahead. For the chilly afternoons, the latest from Australia’s Courtney Barnett may be a good match, the new one from UK hardcore-adjacent Idles will thrash you through the nights. And if a nice sunny day does come along, turn up the new Walk the Moon, and follow it with the debut from Silk Sonic at dusk. Where the new one from alternative artist Julian Lamadrid fits in, you’ll have to decide for yourself, as it’s a fascinating mix of sounds and styles.

Speaking of fascinating mixes, we’ve got quite a range of new singles out today for you. Pop punk princess Avril Lavigne is back with her first single since signing to Travis Barker‘s DTA records. Another early 00’s icon, Dashboard Confessional, is back with his first new single in a number of years, and if you want something a little harder, look no further than the new single from punk band Hot Water Music.

Singer-songwriter Pete Yorn has a new song out, and Gregor Barnett (lead singer of The Menzingers) has the first taste of his upcoming solo album for us. Gang of Youths have another new track from their forthcoming album, and Pup have dropped 2 new punktastic tracks. Pop punks Potty Mouth announced their forthcoming break-up and final album, and have 2 new songs from that upcoming work. And if you want some more indie/alternative, we’ve got new ones from Mitski and Placebo to fill that darker void. We’ve also got ones from Indy Review favorites Nathan Gray, Imogen Clark, Judah & the Lion and Willie Nelson.

A couple recently discovered artists are making a return to the list; emo punks Waxflower, electro popper Glassio, and Swedish band Makthaverskan. Some of the artists we’ll be adding in for the first time are Bakers Eddy, Rod Kim, Camp Cope, Fischer King, Cassidy Mann and Bealby Point.

Hear all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
