And it’s November! The last month of the year for album/song releases we count towards our Best of 2022, and sadly the start of holiday song season (my personal belief is that it shouldn’t begin until earliest after Thanksgiving).
Even with the year winding down, there are still plenty of releases left to come out this year and these are the ones from this week we think you should give a listen to. First will be the new album from Florida new-school pop-punk group Magnolia Park. These guys have been making noise in the scene, and will certainly get your attention. Another punk group we’ve been fans of for a while, Sunliner, have their new one out today and it’s a must-hear. Next we have the latest from Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit. Their beautiful harmonizing will be perfect for your fall days, and it will pair well with the new album from Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips‘ new solo album (read our review of it here). For your fall nights, the new one from French alternative band Phoenix and new one from funky jazz outfit BTTRFLY Quintet will be great soundtracks.
As far as new singles go, the punks are on the march! NOFX have the second song from their upcoming Double Album (a track they originally wrote for blink-182), Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes have another barnburner, and Anti-Flag have the fifth song from their next album here. Noel Gallagher has recruited Johnny Marr for his newest single, and Divided Heaven have dropped a punk cover of the classic “Eleanor Rigby”.
We’ve got two new great singles from Dreamers, and a new one from Avril Lavigne featuring Yungblud. Ryan Bingham is back with a new Nikki Lane-featuring single, and we’ve got the third single from the Gorillaz‘s next album. And despite my protests at the top of the page, we have a new holiday song from punk band Valencia.
Artists we’ll be spinning for the first time on our playlist this week are Glass Bandit, Sarchasm, American Lips, The Nightmares, Doom Flower, Jmsey and Whitehall.
