Country: Sweden
Sweden has long been associated with pop music. From the classic hitmakers ABBA to modern acts like Zara Larsson, the country has created a proportionally large number of pop hitmakers compared to its size. One reason for these many hits is Nea, a long-time songwriter who finally made the transition to a solo artist. As you might expect for someone with as many hits written under their belt as Nea, she quickly amassed her own pop smashes.
Her song “Some Say”, which samples the classic europop Eiffel 65 song “Blue”, as well as its remix Felix Jaehn, was huge across Europe, going to #1 in nine countries. Other songs like “Dedicated” finds strength in its mellow, guitar-led beat and hopeful message. And with her latest single, “A Lover Like Me”, Nea is taking this light rock inspiration further, mixing her pop sensibilities with music hearkening back to 90’s grunge. Following the increasing trend in pop music of including rock influences, the song could easily be another hit for the artists, and maybe her first to crossover here to the USA.
