Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia and currently based in Los Angeles, VALÉ brings sounds from both worlds into her brand of pop music. Taking parts of American R&B, pop and hip-hop, and spinning them with the music and culture from Colombia, it’s a refreshing sound.
Latest single “lo tengo mal” is a propulsive, sultry alt-pop number, given a Bond theme vibe with the mariachi horns. VALÉ‘s delivery has an empowering attitude that makes the song all the more addictive. And like that track, VALÉ takes advantage of being bilingual by incorporating Spanish and English lyrics into songs like “todo bien, Valentina!”, which sounds like a midnight stroll through the middle of a street party.
Her debut single “So Called Friends” is a more confessional, melancholic R&B number that mourns the lack of communication between herself and those she considers her oldest friends. It’s easily relatable material like this which will endear her with fans across the board, no matter what country they are in.
