Interview: Art Alexakis (Everclear)

As someone who grew up in the 90’s, the music of multiplatinum alt rock band Everclear was ever-present. Tracks like “Father of Mine”, “I Will Buy You a New Life” and “Wonderful” were as much a part of my ascent to adulthood as graduating high school and going on my first date. So getting the opportunity to speak with Everclear frontman, singer/songwriter Art Alexakis was a true honor.

As the band is celebrating their 30th Anniversary, Alexakis discusses the band’s new live album, Live at the Whisky-A-Go-Go (out tomorrow, September 8th), the two new studio tracks included on the album, and the group’s upcoming tour with The Ataris and The Pink Spiders. I also attempt to request a deep cut for their upcoming show at the Wiltern on October 9th.

Of course, technology decided to cause a few issues with lag and freezing during the video, which we have done our best to cut-around, but I hope you enjoy my discussion with Alexakis as much as I did.

UPDATED: Listen to the new live album this today here!
