New Music Friday: October 20, 2023

The day has finally arrived. Today, we get both a brand-new blink-182 album with all original members, AND a brand new Rolling Stones album (their first in over a decade)! To say we’re hyped would be an understatement. But there’s not just those – there’s also the first official Iron Roses album (After our fav Nate Gray decided to make the band a singular unit), the long-awaited return of Boys Like Girls, the latest rock masterpiece by Israel Nash, and a new one by Billy Raffoul (read our review of it here). And we also get the new EP from Norwegian indie rocker Bo Milli, who we’ve dug for a while now, and the new EP from Re Teu.

And almost as if to remind the world that he’s doing just fine no longer being in blink, Matt Akiba’s other band Alkaline Trio have returned with a new song and album announcement today. Joining him are British punks Idles, with a new LCD Soundsystem-assisted new one. Another British punk, Yungblud, is getting an assist from Bring Me the Horizon‘s Oil Sykes on his new track, and needing no assistance, thrash grass group The Native Howl are back with a new track.

Glen Hansard continues to swoon us with his new singles, while Mightmare are taking aim with their “killer” new song. Lol Tolhurst/Budgie/Jacknife Lee‘s collaboration has looped in Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse for their latest single, and The Struts are getting “pretty vicious” with their new single. There’s nothing vicious about James Bay‘s new song, but Fucked Up‘s new one might be. And we’re always happy to welcome back Aussie indie singer-songwriter Imogen Clark.

Returning to the round-up this week are Tai Verdes, The Defiant, Marshemello (with P!nk and Sting), Fuzzle, In the Pines, Spelles, Middle Kids, Maris, Joystick, Plain White T’s, Iann Dior, The Rare Occasions, Donovan Woods, Bombay Bicycle Club (feat. Damon Albarn), Beekeeper Spaceman, The Helltones, Autogramm, Kurt Vile, Iglu & Hartley, Skizzy Mars, Pluto Saffron and Maria BC. Artists joining the list for the first time this week are Shannon Smith, Lync, Wishy, FREEZ, Vial, Wayfarer, Sammy Copley, RiTch, J Duran, For Closure, Taken Days, The Sees, merci, mercy and Kevin Abstract.

We’ve got all of these songs and more in one place for you; our New Music Friday Playlist! Please give it a follow.
