New Music Friday: November 3, 2023

Spooky season is over, and Turkey season begins (no, it is NOT Mariah Carey season yet, so do not push play on that song). There are still plenty of new releases to come for you to binge before holiday music becomes appropriate.

New releases like the latest from UK rockers The Struts, or indie rockers Cold War Kids. There’s a new release from 90’s alt rock band Semisonic, and a smashing sophomore album from Spiritual Cramp. There’s a crushing metal split from Asteroid Witch and Greenseeker (read our review of it here) and the final album from the late Jimmy Buffett. There’s also a new EP from Sublime with Rome to keep the summer vibes going a little longer.

Of the new songs out this week, none is more monumental than the official “final” song of The Beatles. Using AI to flesh out a John Lennon demo, and then contributed to by the rest of the members, the song is a perfectly fitting and moving finale to the group’s cannon. I’m thankful we fans were gifted it.

There’s plenty more though – Green Day have a dropped the second (and even better) single from their coming album. MGMT dropped the first single from their coming album (now on an indie label). Cloud Nothings have also signed to a new label, and have new music for us to go with it. Better Than Ezra dropped the second track from their next LP, and folk rockers Grizfolk are back with a new one. Lenny Kravitz has a new song for the soundtrack to Rustin, and reggae artist Matisyahu has his second song of 2023 out.

We’re bringing back Venus Grrrls (who dropped a great music video we covered earlier this week), Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Dave Hause, The Glorious Sons, 408, Remo Drive, Broadside, The Last Dinner Party, The Jellybricks, The Cocktail Slippers and Youth Fountain. And getting their first features on our playlist this week are The Eighty Six Seas, Shane Smith & The Saints, Blood, Roe Kapara, Allen Ling, Hollow River, Go Betty Go, Kelsey Hickman, Close Talker, Arcofield, King Borneo and Elijah Woods.

Hear all of these tunes and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
