New Music Friday: March 1, 2024

It’s a new month, and we’ve got plenty of new music for ya!

This week is Britpop front-loaded, with new albums from the Kaiser Chiefs, and Liam Gallagher‘s collaborative album with John Squire both out today. We’ve also got some solid, indie-leaning punk releases from heralded groups like Mannequin Pussy, Sheer Mag, and Footballhead (read our review of that one here)!

Beloved folk rock group The Avett Brothers dropped a welcome surprise this week; a new song! If you love folk music, then you’ll also need to listen to the brand new one from Donovan Woods. We’ve got some great new rock tracks from Cloud Nothings, The K’s, Rosie Tucker and Atelo Songs, and if you like your rock with a bit more spice, then the latest from Mdou Moctar will be up your alley.

Alternative juggernauts Twenty One Pilots have kicked off their new era with a new single, while another huge act in that arena, Cage the Elephant, announced their new album and dropped a second song from it. The incredible St. Vincent has showed off her new single, as have the soulful Lake Street Dive. We’ve got two new songs from Near Beer, and the return of Spanish rock band Hinds. Other acts who have graced our list before that are back this week are Ben Folds, Cigarettes After Sex, Chastity Belt, Kacey Musgraves, T Bone Burnett, Bully, Oisin Leech, Judah & the Lion, New Years Day, Salt Cathedral, Ashley Brandenburg, Wilderado, Elbow, Devon Thompson, For Closure, Ghost Work, One Step Closer, XYZPDQ, Iann Dior, Joyner Lucas and Tish Melton.

And as I tend to do, I’ve listened to tons of submissions this week to find some fresh artists and sounds to introduce you to. This week, I’ve got Backroom Gossip, Kim Richey, Dream Machine, Jacob Collier, Latrala, Jon Tyler Wiley & His Virginia Choir, Heart of Pine, Kites in Lightning, Everything Everything, Bryan Roscoe, Kevin Kennedy III, Lone Kodiak, Eaten by Lions, The Amplifier Heads, Alberta Cross, Tiny Habits, Myriad, Reevah, Kyshona, Kelly Jones, Anita Avakian, Iris Harley, moving mirrors, Eric Sleeper and Wayland.
