New Music Friday: November 8, 2024

If you’re like me, then this week was really, really hard. It’s difficult to find solace in much of anything right now. Music is a light salve on the wound, but hopefully losing yourself to some new tunes can be a brief reprieve from the negative news that hit us on Tuesday.

Pop-punk has always been good for lifting spirits, so hopefully the latest album from State Champs can help get a bounce back into your steps (read my review of it here). Or if you need to rage a bit more at the state of the world, the debut full-length from For Closure should provide a good soundtrack for that. Australia’s King Stingray is a great one to daze out to and forget your troubles with, and the light folk pop from breakout star Myles Smith will lighten any mood. And the new EP from Girl Scout certainly will feed any desire for good indie rock.

Zach Bryan has dropped two surprise new singles, and UK group Doves have returned with a new song after a bit of time away. Speaking of beloved UK bands, Elbow have released a second single from their next album. half•alive‘s latest single should bring some comfort to your soul,

Other artists returning to the list this week with new tunes include The Zew, Juanita Stein, Saint Blonde, Piper Connolly, The Boathouse, Sullvn, JT Loux, Boy Detective, Friedberg, Yesterdaze, Son Called Soul and Marcus King.

And I hope getting playlisted here for the first time brings some joy to Sunwheel, Holly Would Surrender, Drop It First, Rex & The Rhythm, Chris Weaver Band, Arvid Lizell and Innocent, The Vices, The Memos, Oswald Slain, Rorey, Her Leather Jacket, The Wood, Tedious & Brief, Ebolagoldfish and The Veer Union.

Here’s the full New Music Friday playlist you can follow to listen to the new tunes we find for you every week.
