Biig Piig first came on our radar from a 2021 collaboration with Emotional Oranges called “Body and Soul.” Initially, we thought that we would be putting Biig Piig in the Progressive R&B category, but a look at her debut album 11:11 (released Feb 7) has changed all that. She has a remarkable Dragonette quality to her voice, and her new album has that dressed-down electronica feel that evokes 2010’s Kaskade.
The second song on the album, “Ponytail”, re-imagines that moment in music for the year 2025. If you have been a fan of Kaskade at any point, you’ll most certainly enjoy this track. And if you have the time, we would encourage you to listen to the whole album. “Decimal” has a lot of potential to be a club banger this summer… just saying.
Biig Piig (born Jessica Smyth) explains her curious stage name:
It “puts no pressure on me to be a certain way – I can be a mess, and I can also be cute and put together.”
She opened for Glass Animals Dreamland Tour in 2021 and has a mixtape of short tracks called Bubblegum, released in 2023. Smyth is an Irish singer and rapper who spent the bulk of her childhood in Spain and currently resides in West London.
