New Music Friday: October 24, 2025

Halloween is almost here, and the new music this week is…not terrifying. But it is good! There’s the debut album from excellent folk singer Joelton Mayfield, the return of the mighty 90’s band The Lemonheads (read my review of it here), the latest from hard rock royalty Mammoth, swaggering southern rock from Jet Black Roses, the new one from upstart pop-punk band People R Ugly, and new EPs from indie maestro Bartees Strange, power-pop wunderkind Dazy, and SoCal punk princess Megg (read our review of the EP here).

Classic 80’s alternative band Haircut 100 have reunited and released a new single this week. It’s been less of a drought since we got new music from the Foo Fighters, but a new single from them is always welcome and we got one this week. MGK has been releasing tracks from his Tickets of My Downfall session that haven’t been previously heard, and we’ve got ’em, and 90’s faves Spacehog have returned (after a triumphant tour) with a new song. The James Hunter Six have scored a Van Morrison cameo on their new single, while Spanish Love Songs enlisted the Illuminati Hotties for their new track. And even bigger – Mumford & Sons have brought in Hozier for a mega-folk collab.

Sports Team already dropped a great album this year, and now they’re back with a new song for a deluxe edition, while All-American Rejects are looking to get folks ‘tap dancing’ with their new song. There’s a previously unreleased b-side from the late Scott Weiland, and now that her physical version of the album is out, Hayley Williams has released another new track from her solo album. Also returning to the list this week are Frank Turner, Taking Back Sunday, lovelytheband, Serj Tankian, Tessa Rose Jackson, The Strumbellas, Valerie June, Nick & June, Ezra Bell, Lena Morris, Cinema Stare, The Len Price 3, Edgehill, Tony DV, Bahamas, 37 Houses, Taylor Acorn, Action/Adventure, Galactic Empire, 84 Days, Ray and Paul, The Melancholy Kings, Curious Volume, John Nolan, Fuckin Whatever, Charles James & The Rise, Chance Peña, The Urban Renewal Project, Spiritual Cramp and girlfriends.

And it wouldn’t be our NMF without some fresh names to introduce you to. This week, hear songs from Kill Me Kate, Courtney Hartman, Local Weathermen, Ian McCuen, Capillary, Kid Fears, Queen Quail, Keegan Powell, Passenger to Tamworth, Good Sleepy, Lombardy, Wildie, Louis O’Hara, Guv, Integra Pink, Humbug, The Goods, Susie McCollum, Plain Mister Smith and Everything but the Everything.
