Georgia-native Chappy was raised surrounded by music and art. It was in his blood and bones. So pursuing a career in music was not a surprise. Now based in Nashville, the artist became an adept folk instrumentalist, band leader and composer. His lyrics are rooted in storytelling, and with his debut album coming out this coming Friday, I had to share one of its stand-out tracks, “Rollin’ (Fighter)”.
“Well my heart’s unsteady. I’ve got not beat in this drum” opens the track, even as a fervent drum beat builds as Chappy expresses feeling like a “prisoner on the run”. Like a classic Springsteen song, the chorus hits with harmony-rich “whoahs” backed by an anthemic roots rock arrangement. The track keeps ‘rollin’ on with glorious melodic shifts and an E Street-worthy bash of joyful noise.
Check out the full album on Friday, and check out the single in our Check This 2025 Playlist.
