Music Video: Semi-Famous – The Betrayal B4/The Best Treachery

Originally a band only in the pages of Screeching Weasel member John Jughead’s novel, Weasels in a Box, Semi-Famous was initially brought to life for just a 7-inch record, inspired by the book’s publisher.

Since then, Jughead gathered together members from various other bands to record the band’s 2024 debut, Destroy Ourselves. When member Billy Brown died of cancer before the release of that first album, the remaining members regrouped with new members to a follow-up, Not Sorry! The first taste from that upcoming album (Due April 10th) is “The Betrayal B4/The Best Treachery”, a riotous punk rock tunes about the dual sides of treachery. And with the tune, the band teamed up with Chicago artist Miguel Echemendia to create an animated video that brings the feeling of old school comic books to life.

Using ingenious animated techniques, the video is full of pulp novel twists and 50’s style super hero melodrama, all set to the band’s blazing melodic punk rock. Watch the video above, and set a reminder to listen to the record when it comes out on Sounds Rad Records on April 10th.
