If you enjoy “explosive rock n’ roll”, De La Rocka may be an artist for you. Beginning as the solo project for musician Panu De La Rocka, the project has since evolved into a full band, writing songs influenced by garage rock, rockabilly, surf and punk, and wading into mystical, sci-fi and macabre subject matters that would please any fan of Alkaline Trio or The Misfits.
The Finnish artist has toured across Europe, playing festivals and garnering radio play with tracks like his latest single “Vampire.” The song is a rollicking psychobilly blast, with ripping guitars and gothic vocals, building into tuneful gang backing vocals and ear-piercing screams. While “Vampire” leans more into De La Rocka‘s punk influences, other tracks like “Lady Luck” embody the spirit of classic country western music, but delivered with a rock edge.
The artist’s older tunes hit hard too. “Beer, Blood, Rock N’ Roll” is a riotous horror rocker, with roaring vocals and mile-a-minute drumming, while “Invasion of the Robots” brings a menacing sci-fi narrative to a soaring goth-punk track that is reminiscent of classic AFI.
