Banger of the Week: Fox Thoughts – Tourniquet

The jagged, melodic yet abrasive style of post-hardcore music that first bubbled up in the early 00’s is back with a vengeance in the form of new Southern California band Fox Thoughts. The group recently released their debut, self-produced EP, Demo 2026, and it will hit that craving for muscular riffs, complex rhythms and vocals that range from rage-filled screams to large, melodic choruses.

While it’s a strong collection through and through, the stand-out banger of the collection is the opener “Tourniquet.” Highlighted by vocalist Laxon’s addictively spitfire delivery, the song has the perfect mix of soft/loud dynamics and heavy drums, juxtaposed against melodic bass lines and a tender wave of piano. The unpolished production gives it a raw feel that embraces the punk spirit and DIY aesthetic.

Expect to start hearing more about these guys as they gig around the city and make a name for themselves. Follow them on Instagram, and listen to this banger in our Bangers of the Week Playlist.
