A loose, creative project in the vein of N.E.R.D. and Massive Attack, M.O.T.H.E.R. is the brain child of The Big Pink‘s Robbie Furze. The UK artist recruited friends Jamie Hince (The Kills) and Jamie T, and together the trio dropped a surprise EP last month. The results are a musical collage of styles that fit seamlessly together, as one can hear in the excellent single “My Love.”
About the song, Furze has said:
“‘MY LOVE’ reads like a love story, but it came from losing my mother and having my daughter at the same time, just trying to hold onto hope, because love is everything and all around. It sings like a hymn.
‘MY LOVE’ faces the cracks head-on yet celebrates what endures. Even as things fall, some love stands unbroken, and it’s worth rejoicing.”
These feelings can be felt in the song’s chanting of “My love, my love, can’t stop my love!” The garage rock guitars give the song an edge, while the trio spit verses in various styles (Jamie T‘s hip-hop inflected delivery, and Furze’s more melodic singing). The track has been making it’s way up the alternative airplay charts, but if it hasn’t hit a station near you yet, you can get a taste of it here in our Check This 2026 Playlist.
