Anyone who knows me knows I’m a lover of New Jersey music. From Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi to Gaslight Anthem, from Bouncing Souls to My Chemical Romance. Something about New Jersey breeds creativity and songwriting ingenuity. And blazing their own sound and trail from the garden state are CR & the White Lights.
Drawing inspiration from folk rebels like Neil Young and Songs: Ohia, CR & the White Lights, write alt-country rock with an introspective, philosophical touch. You may have heard their debut single, “Tinted Windows,” in our New Music Friday playlist a few weeks back, and today I’m excited to premiere their second track from their upcoming album My Old Self, entitled “Greatest Hits.”
Frontman CR Gennone has said about the song “”Greatest Hits” is a love song. Anxieties and fears can play in your head sometimes like a broken record, but steering your mind towards thoughts of love and good things can change it all.”
Highlighted by mournful steel pedal guitar (courtesy of Liam Bornovski), the track has a dreamy atmosphere, warm, folksy harmonies and a hopeful glint in CR’s lyrical outlook. Be the first to hear the song below, before it is out everywhere June 10th:
