North Carolina sextet The John Wood Band are six young musicians and friends who met while in college, and joined up in 2025 to bring their music to the world. With an EP and a handful of singles already out, they have been putting in the hours, building a fan base through touring and hooking people in with their breezy yet musically adept songs that would fit in at a college party as well as while riding a yacht around a bay or chilling in the backyard.
These vibes permeate on their latest single “Just a Little Longer.” Vocalist Wood has a soft, R&B-leaning voice that goes between sultry and breezy, and is perfectly matched by his band, who build delicious rhythms around him. The lovelorn lyrics like “As soon as I see you smile, there’s no way I’m going home alone” exude confidence to match the good vibes of the track. And when the sax comes in, you’ll feel like you’re lost in yacht rock bliss.
