Am I getting any sleep yet? Not really. Am I able to check the hundreds of submissions that get sent to me which I often consider for these weekly NMF posts? Not by a long shot. I’m still in 1000% new dad mode. Yet somehow still, there are a ton of new albums and songs here for you to listen to today!
New ones like the latest from the brilliant Jamie T, who pops up every half decade or so with music to get stuck in your head for the next five years. There’s swooning new power-pop from Teenage Fanclub (read our review of it here), soaring rock n’ roll from Greta Van Fleet, thoughtful songwriting from Sheryl Crow and Tallest Man on Earth, and atmospheric psychedelic folk from Sunnan (read my review of the album here).
Good Charlotte are definitely back, dropping a new single so soon after their latest album, and featuring a surprise guest – Ziggy Marley! Tho this one will actually be part of a re-release of their 2014 Madden Brothers album (finally returning to streaming services). Speaking of reggae stars, Matisyahu has a beautiful new duet out with Yuval Raphael. Emmalee Rainbow has finally shared the next single from her next album, and we also have the second new one from Jonah Kagen‘s next LP.
The Interrupters have been teasing new music for a while, and this week they gave us the first taste of their next album. Rainbow Kitten Surprise have surprised with a great new track, There’s three new songs from Paul McCartney from a deluxe edition of his latest album, and four from Northcote‘s deluxe album edition. We’ve got another new single from David Byrne, and a tropical-flavored confection from Bedouin Soundclash.
The list has new songs from familiar talents like Teens in Trouble, Howlin Rain, Joe Gittleman, Elle Belle, Oso Oso, Jess Kerber, K-Man & The 45s, Foot Ox, Sylvie, Classic Traffic, Kiss the Scientist, David J, All Hours, Doom Scroll, brookelen, Bodega, Vince Staples, Cold War Kids, Dance Hall Crashers, The Dead Bolts, Mat Kearney, Olivia Vedder and the legendary Robert Plant.
