Conor Oberst, of Bright Eyes fame, has announced his first solo release in over a very prolific decade will be hitting state-side August 5th on Merge Records according to his new website conoroberst.com. The self-titled, release was recorded this past January and February in Tepoztlán, Morelos (Mexico) produced by Mr. Oberst and engineered by Andy LeMaster (Now It’s Overhead, Bright Eyes, Azure Ray, REM) in a temporary studio in a villa “known for Aztec Magic and Extra-Terrestrial Sightings.” Backing Oberst is the Mystic Valley Band consisting of Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley, Tilly And The Wall, Cursive), Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley, Evergreen, The Elected), Taylor Hollingsworth (solo), Nik Freitas (solo), and Macey Taylor (Maria Taylor, Bright Eyes, Lyte Brite).
Oberst has posted two songs from the upcoming release on his website for streaming, “Danny Callahan” and “Souled Out!!!” and a 50 stop tour list starting July 16th and ending October 5th.
