Artist: Dave Hause
Song: The Flinch
Genre: Punk, Folk, Singer-Songwriter
Dave Hause follows in a great tradition of punk frontmen picking up an acoustic guitar and letting their folk flag fly. While still a member of Philadelphia punk band The Loved Ones, Dave has released a number of solo singles and three full-lenght LPs, including the recent Bury Me in Philly (Rise Records, 2017).
Just because it’s a solo album, doesn’t mean the music is just one voice and a guitar. Hause utilized a full band for most of the tracks, including empowering first single “The Flinch”. The song follows its narrator overcoming the past fears that have held them back, though if the Liberty Bell-referencing imagery is any indication, the song is likely a personal one for Hause. Either way, it’s fist-pumping chorus is a spirit-lifter that’s completely universal.
