For whatever reason, if famous, heralded artists often have songs that were shelved or kept in the vault. This is what happened with Marvin Gaye‘s “This Love Starved Heart of Mine (Is Killing Me)”. Recorded for Motown Records in the 70’s, the song was not released, but managed to find it’s way across the pond to become an underground hit in the Northern Soul clubs. It would take nearly 20 years for an official release of he song to come out, when Motown put out Lost & Found in 1994, a collection of unreleased tracks by Gaye.
And the song was truly worth any wait – a stomping beat, with Gaye’s burning vocals lighting the song ablaze. It swings with a fervor that is unmatchable, and will leave you feeling exhausted even if it doesn’t (somehow) get you on your feet dancing.
