Check This: Sol – If You Don’t Call

Artist: Sol

Song: “If You Don’t Call”

Label: Zilla Music

Genre: Hip Hop

Seattle is best known for it’s grunge and indie rock, but there’s also an active hip hop scene in the city. One of Seattle’s up-and-coming stars is Russian-Jewish/Haitian rapper Sol. His first album The Ride was released independently in 2009, and since then, he has traveled the globe and come out with a number of EPs and a second album, Yours Truly, in 2012. He’s also done a notable amount of charity work, including raising money for Doctors Without Borders.

Last year, Sol released the single “If You Don’t Call”. Built upon synths and a melodic beat, the track is an ode to all the girls who never called, but keeps the message positive:

I don’t blame you, I don’t wanna hate you
After everything we been through, I just wanna thank you
For being who you are, even though we grew apart
Without you, I wouldn’t make it this far

There’s a refreshing maturity to the track that can’t help but leave a good feeling in you after listening. It’s definitely a song I could have used during my single days. Check it out below:
