Whoever thinks that Seattle’s heyday as a music Mecca is over should pay more attention to the local scene, as the city continues to churn out great bands (and not all of them are influenced by grunge).
Take 3-piece band Dude York, who are much more indebted to The Posies than Pearl Jam. After releasing their second full-length album early last year (which took them a tumultuous 2 years to record), the group is back with power pop nugget “What Would You Do If You Had Some Money Now?”
A bouncy singalong about the struggles of being broke in our modern world, the song is full of 80’s riffs, hummable backing vocals and Peter Richard’s wishful, slightly sardonic vocals that bring to mind Stephen Jenkins of Third Eye Blind.
