Literal graduates from the School of Rock, singer Lydia Night, guitarist Genessa Gariano and bassist Sage Nicole all met while attending the Los Angeles music school, though wouldn’t form The Regrettes for some years to come. Bringing in Maxx Morando on drums, the group released their first singles in 2016 after signing to Warner Brothers Records.
Having racked up a few million streams, the group is ready to break big, and their latest single “California Friends” is liable to help them achieve that goal. A punked up rocker in the vein of a modern Runaways, Lydia spits snarky lines about romance (“I think I love you but then I think no way!”) over a driving melody and is brimming with youthful energy.
