New Music Friday Playlist – February 8, 2019
Though it’s been a cold winter in California, Bob Mould (of Hüsker Dü fame) is going to warm us up a bit with his latest album Sunshine Rock. It’s the only new album we’ll be focusing on this week, after a heavy week of new releases last week.
We’re not being let off the hook with new singles though. Gary Clark Jr, Robert Ellis, The Mowgli’s and Lee Fields & the Expressions are all releasing new songs from their upcoming albums. We also get the first taste of new music from power popper Ben Kweller and Australian songwriter Meg Mac (who we’ll be seeing later this month in Los Angeles).
The Lego Movie 2 has also given us a new piece of super pop, this time a collaboration from Beck, Robyn and The Lonely Island. It’s a high-energy, humorous jam in the vein of the previous “Everything is Awesome”.
To top it off, the first single from an upcoming lost album by R&B legend Marvin Gaye has also just dropped.
