Give full credit to The Knocks – they constantly do their own thing. Over the last couple years, they’ve worked with some unexpected collaborators (Their “Ride or Die” with Foster the People was an alternative hit), been featured on a number of remixes, and have steadily released new singles this year spanning various genres.
One of their most recent singles, “Awa Ni”, featuring Nigerian artist Kah-Lo, has just had a beautiful video released to accompany the song. Filmed in Nigeria, the video shines a positive light on the country and its kids, breaking from pre-conceived views we may in the west of how these kids overcome the hardships in their lives to still seek out fun and joy. From soccer to surfing, director Emile Ebrahim Kelly captures this youthful journey with gorgeous cinematography that fits the track’s elegiac sound perfectly.
