New Music Friday – July 31, 2020

Alanis_Morissette_-_Such_Pretty_Forks_in_the_Road

Today is the last day of July, meaning we have five months left in this crazy year that is 2020. Have you found some music you love yet this year? If not, maybe something coming out today will change that.

There’s a very eclectic melange of new albums out today, the first being the long-anticipated Such Pretty Forks in the Road from alternative rock queen Alanis Morissette. This one was delayed due to Covid, but it is finally out now for all you fans of the former star of You Can’t Do That on Television (deep reference). Alt. rapper Dominic Fike‘s major label debut album drops today, as does the second album from buzzed-about post-punk Irish band Fontaines DC. Eighties heroes The Psychedelic Furs‘ first new album in decades is out now, and you should check out the new one from indie rockers KIDS.

And if you’re a fan of both artists like I am, the new split EP from NOFX and Frank Turner, where the artists cover each other’s tracks, is out today.

It will be no secret to anyone that megastar Billie Eilish has a new song out that will likely shoot to the top ten of the charts, but there are a bunch of other quality releases that deserve your attention as well. The Go-Gos have dropped their first new song in two decades, to coincide with the release of a new documentary about them. Run the Jewels have a new track out with Travis Barker, Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor has released the first songs from his new solo project, and hip hop/pop star Bryce Vine‘s new single I’m sure will fit the summer vibes. Alternative fans will want to check out the new ones from Bastille and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, while those looking to rock a little harder will find new tracks from Touche Amore, Biffy Clyro and Local H.

Some site favorites Novo Amor and Koffee both have new tracks to listen to, and if you want to have a good time, look no further than the latest song from The Aquabats!
