It’s a diverse New Music Friday today, cause we have new albums from across the musical spectrum for our playlist. Nigerian megastar Burna Boy‘s new one is here, melding rap, reggae, afrobeat and a number of other styles together. Scottish band Biffy Clyro provide the kind of melodic hard rock that works for head banging and soul searching. Piano-great Bruce Hornsby is a songwriter’s songwriter. And then we get the long-awaited return of Kathleen Edwards, who was writing moving, smart, humor-laced folk rock when Phoebe Bridgers was still in junior high.
There’s a good mix of songs from established and new artists on the list this week. Familiar acts like The Killers, Weezer, Elvis Costello, The Mountain Goats, Nas, Alicia Keys and Anderson .Paak all have new tunes to check out. Some artists we think you should discover this next week include Toronto punks The OBGMs, new Epitaph group Teenage Wrist, rockers Seaway and alt. folk troubadour John Murry.
Following the announcement of a Hybrid Theory anniversary edition coming soon, rap rock legends Linkin Park have debuted a previously unreleased track this week which I’ve included as well.
