These days are strange days, which probably explains the title of The Struts‘ latest album, dropping today. The new one from indie rapper Open Mike Eagle should also shine some light on our current crazy world, and the first solo album from The National‘s Matt Berninger I’m sure will be a thoughtful affair. Hopefully the new bluegrass album from Sturgill Simpson will be just plain fun. Last but not least, the full length from rising indie rocker Beabadoobee is here and very much buzzed about.
One of the most interesting new songs coming out this week is courtesy of Portugal. The Man, with their first new song in 3 years that features “Weird Al” Yankovic and celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ rights. We also have the first new songs from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in ages, and some guest-packed new tracks from soul legend Stevie Wonder.
Bad Religion have dropped a b-side from their most recent album, and Lana Del Rey is previewing the first new song from her next album. Sharon Van Etten makes two appearances; one with her own new song, and as a feature on a new Local Natives. Speaking of features, Frank Turner lends a hand on the latest track from Nathan Gray. There’s also new music from folk rocker Langhorne Slim, 90’s alternative band Better Than Ezra and punk group Cloud Nothings.
Take a listen to all of these and many more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
