We hope you all had a fun and filling Thanksgiving, despite the limitations put upon it by the pandemic. We are in the last New Music Friday of November, and the close of the music year (we count December towards the next year as far as Year End lists go).
So top of our list this Friday is something we never thought we’d be spinning – the latest by Miley Cyrus. Dubbed as her “rock” album, Cyrus has brought along guests like Joan Jett and Billy Idol, and if her first single “Midnight Sky” is any indication, the music will be a throwback to dirty 80’s rock n’ roll, and we’re curious to hear it! If that for some reason doesn’t meet our rock fix, then the latest from brother band Radkey and alternative vets Smashing Pumpkins should easily take care of that. If you want some more fun, Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong has finally released the complete album of his No Fun Mondays covers.
It’s now officially okay to start listening (and releasing) holiday songs, and we’re getting some from Sam Fender and (new Grammy nominee) Phoebe Bridgers (with a Merle Haggard cover). For those of you who still want some non-holiday music, don’t you worry – Yungblud, Jade Bird, Dropkick Murphys, The Game and Sting are all happily obliging. There’s also the first new music from emo rockers The Julianna Theory in many a moon.
As always, you can listen to all of these picks and more in our Indy Review New Music Friday Playlist!
