New Music Friday – January 22, 2021

It’s going to be one of the last lighter weeks for new music, as there’s a haul of new tunes coming out in the coming weeks. Should give you plenty of times to give a few listens to everything dropping today.

We’ll try out the debut album from emo-rapper Guccihighwaters, since Epitaph records generally has great taste. We’ve also got the new album from indie rockers Moon Taxi, and a new EP from UK-based indie songwriter Barbarossa. His moving, peaceful music will certainly be a pleasant evening soundtrack for those who need one.

While they already had one guitar-driven album set to come out in May, Weezer announced this week another new album dropping this month. With full orchestration and no guitars, it will be a big departure from the pending Van Weezer. Bad Religion have released another outtake from their 2019 album, and Sir Sly have a new song out featuring Gary Clark Jr. Some other familiar faces out with new music today are Justin Courtney Pierre, Tash Sultana, David Gray, Valerie June and Kishi Bashi.

Some of the new artists we’ll be spinning this week are TikTok and Downfall High star LilHuddy with his debut single, a new one from 44phantom, Dylan Cartlidge, and eclectic soul-rock group Kalu & the Electric Joint.

Take a listen to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
