Leave it to Weezer to drop a last-minute surprise album before dropping a previously announced album coming out later this year. As the first month of 2021 is ending, that is exactly what they have decided to do, giving us an album featuring orchestration and nary a guitar in sight. Adding to the goodness today is the release of the latest album from Lucero (check out our review of the album here), as well as the new one from indie folk queen Ani DiFranco.
The biggest single out this week is a true ska epic from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. After joining Hellcat Records, the band has dropped a single jam-packed with ska luminaries from the likes of Rancid, Interrupters, Fishbone, Less Than Jake, Pietasters and more! Some other noteworthy returns are the latest single from Teenage Fanclub, Juliana Hatfield, UK electro-indie band Hot Chip, rough soul artist Rag n’ Bone Man, and Ben Howard. Jon Batiste has a hopping new single, and A Day to Remember are back with another heavy one.
Some of the newer artists on the list this week are indie songstress Natalie Bergman, rockers Charming Liars, indie alt pop artist 347aidan and singer-songwriter Jensen McRae.
Take a listen to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
