Singer/Actress/Model Sevana first gained attention for her musical prowess working with reggae star Protoje on his 2014 album Ancient Future. From there, she began releasing singles, and debuted her first EP in 2016. In 2020, she released her latest EP, Be Somebody, a collection of reggae, soul and R&B originals fronted by Sevana‘s smooth, fiery vocals.
Capping off that EP is the powerful ballad “Set Me On Fire”. Backed by a humble beat and piano accompaniment, the track finds Sevana recounting an abusive relationship. “He only wanted someone to abuse. Sold me good impressions, called me his muse. Set me on fire”) she sings, managing to evoke the pain of the events while also giving the song a redeeming hope in her subtle and soaring vocals.
