We hope you all had a great Easter weekend last week. As we launch into Spring, we’re getting fewer new albums, but plenty of new singles to preview upcoming summer releases.
We are going to give some love to the latest album from 70’s rock and power pop stars Cheap Trick. Early reviews have been favorable, so we’re looking forward to seeing what the group sounds like in 2021. Another more modern act whose sound harkens back to the older days of rock n’ roll, Nick Waterhouse, is also releasing his latest album today.
One of the splashiest new singles hitting the net this week is from alternative duo Twenty One Pilots, which came with an announcement of their next album. Joining them is rising songwriter Ashe, who also announced a new album with a new single. Two other critically beloved alternative artists with new songs out today are Japanese Breakfast and former Vampire Weekend member Rostam.
Ska fans can rejoice, as they can enjoy new songs from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Joystick! out this week. Former At The Drive-In member Jim Ward dropped a new song, and be sure to listen to the new single from Icelandic folk rockers Of Monsters and Men, and join me in welcoming back The Wallflowers, with their first new single in a decade!
In new old music news, Iron & Wine have announced the upcoming release of a “lost” album and are previewing it with a previously unreleased song. We will also be getting a previously unreleased album from the legendary Prince in the near future, and have a new song from that collection to share today. Speaking of classic artists, The Isley Brothers are back with a new song featuring Snoop Dogg, and 90’s rockers The Wallflowers have their first new single out in many a year.
Other familiar names dropping new music today are Alice Merton, Anderson East, Rag n’ Bone Man with P!nk, Surfaces, Sia, Bob Schneider and rapper DMX (who we all are hoping pulls through from his recent heat attack). Some of the new artists we’ll be highlighting this week are pop-punkers Never Loved, rockers Good Terms, and singer/songwriter Rose Betts.
