The Real Sickies are considered power-pop, party-anthem bunkers, and the unbridled rock n’ roll energy on new single “Love is For Lovers” (off the upcoming album of the same name, due July 9th) perfectly fits into this description.
About the single, lead singer Ben Disaster says “I really wanted to address some homophobic comments left on some of our videos by a specific individual. So funny to troll people about that, who are very open ended, so it was finally time to address that and the politics around love.”
So along with having a positive message, the track is one minute and forty seconds of glistening guitars, chugging drums, and melodic vocals that fall somewhere between Johnny Thunder and The Strokes. The track bangs like a track dedicated to lovers should, which is why it’s our Banger of the Week.
