New Music Friday – July 16, 2021

This is going to be a fun New Music Friday, judging by the releases we’ve got coming in! Guitarist and pop-songwriting star John Mayer is back, and leaning way into 80’s soft-rock vibes with his latest album (I mean, just look at that cover art – Mayer knows exactly what he’s doing). Next, we’ve got the latest from Canadian pop-rock hitmakers Barenaked Ladies (read our review of the album here). Willow Smith unleashes her pop-punk debut on her new album, and punk rock group Felicity have finally dropped their new one after a bunch of great singles. And if you’re a fan of classic rock, check out the new album from Bros (side-project of members of The Sheepdogs).

Pop group Walk the Moon dropped a 3-song single this week, and knowing how perfect their songs are for summer, we’re excited to listen. Gang of Youths have also added two more songs to their recent single to drop a little EP. Chvrches new song is a good one for getting your dance on, and the new tracks from Son Volt and Jesse Malin bring some roots rock goodness. Folk rockers Houndmouth and Pessimistic Punks Spanish Love Songs both dropped two new singles, and two old singles from early 90’s group Popsicko have finally gotten a digital release.

If you need some soul, Durand Jones & The Indications have you covered with their latest, while Billy Bragg is back to bring us some fine folk music. Tycho and Ben Gibbard have teamed up again for some solid electro pop, and Charming Liars are back with some gritty punk rock. And if you want some real metal, Iron Maiden are back with a six minute epic.

There’s also new singles from Bastille, Dirty Heads, Stroke 9, Peach Tree Rascals, Anderson East, Tyler Posey, Logic and a whole lot more! Some of the new artists we’re featuring this week are The Booklights, Ditchbird, Eli Hurts, Halo West, 4 Minutes Later, Young Mister and Valley Place!

Hear all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist!
