A Permanent Shadow is the musical release of singer-songwriter CP Fletcher. Drawing inspiration from the likes of David Bowie, Gary Numan, Scott Walker and Iggy Pop, A Permanent Shadow‘s songs are expressions of melancholy, nostalgia and other sentiments that exist on the darker side of human life.
His latest single “Shining Star” is a glowing, haunting search for spiritual relief. Gentle piano notes and acoustic guitars underly Fletcher’s yearning vocals. As he sings “Shining star, where are you now? Shining star we need you now”, it’s hard not to feel the weight of the world around you and the need we certainly are all feeling for some respite from the heaviness of life. It makes the track a cathartic and universal plea for escape.
